Richard Dean Kimball, 90, of Elk Rapids, died Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at home with his family by his side.

He was born and raised in the Birmingham, Michigan area, though he has had family in the Elk Rapids area since 1850 era.  His grandfather ran the transport steamer Mabel at the turn of the century.  Dick was larger than life, worked in heavy construction all his life in both sales and as General Sales Manager.  He always had a joke and a laugh at the ready.  He was quite the chef and his experimental dishes were infamous.   He inherited love of the water, boating, and fishing from his ancestors and was rarely off the water in summer-- and spent many a winter in the Caribbean.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Evelyn Jean Loeding Kimball.

He is survived by: his daughter, Lynn Fay and her husband Richard Fay; grandson, Joshua Fay; granddaughter, Hilary Oskey and her husband Joe Oskey; great-grandson, John Michael Oskey; and grandson, John Fay.  He is also survived by: his son, Richard Kimball II and his wife Cindy Kimball; grandson, Richard Kimball III and wife Michelle; grandson, Nicholas Kimball; and granddaughter, Jennifer Kimball.

No services will be held.
