Mr. Richard S. Patton, 84, of Mears passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011. He was born May 24, 1926, in New Kensington, PA to Lyle V. and Anna F. (Daylida) Patton. He married Adelma (Del) LeBlanc in Pittsburgh on April 1, 1967. He received his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He was employed as an electrical engineer for U.S. Steel in Youngstown, OH; Gary, IN; Port Cartier, Canada; and DuQuesne, PA. He also had worked for Interlake, Inc. of Riverdale, IL. From 1980-1986, Mr. Patton owned and operated the Sail 'N Trail Marina in Whitehall. He had also owned Realty Connection in Hart. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in Okinawa. He was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church and the American Legion. He taught religious education at St. Gregory and was a former Lector. He served on the Grand Rapids Cursillo Secretariat and was past president of the Whitehall-Montague Rotary. He was a lifetime member of the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers.
Survivors include his wife, Adelma, (Del) Patton of Mears; children Dorisann (Bruce) McNeill of Hebron, IN; Ric Patton of Fair Oaks, IN; Kirk (Debbie) Patton of Middleville, MI; Kymber (Mike) Roossien of Copper Center, AK; Jason (Tracey) Patton of Chicago, IL; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Patton will be offered Saturday, May 21, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. from St. Gregory Catholic Church with Father Tom Bolster presiding. Visitation will be Friday, May 20, 2011, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the King Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be at the church one hour prior to the service.
