Mr. Richard Edward Schnurer, age 50, of Pentwater, Michigan, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014. He was born July 12, 1964, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Ronald and Lillian (Stokes) Schnurer.
Richard earned his Master's Degree in Business Administration and was a teacher; he was awarded numerous honorable mentions in education. A member of the National Guard for 30 years, he was a computer analyst and master chef and held the rank of E-8 Sgt. Richard also owned the retail store, Bearied Treasure, in Pentwater.
Richard is survived by his mother Lillian Schnurer, of Palm Bay, FL; his best friend, Steve Bass of Los Angeles, CA; two sisters, Micky "Janice" Leycraft of Calgary, AB, Canada, and Barbara Jean "Barbie" of Madison County, NY; one brother, Ronald Schnurer of Palm Bay, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and his beloved dog, Regulus Rufhausen. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald D. Schnurer, on May 19, 2009.
A Celebration of Life for Richard will be held Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at 63 First Street in Pentwater, MI 49449.
UPDATE: A military graveside service for Richard will be held Thursday, September 4, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. at Pentwater Township Cemetery.
