Richard Eugene Sikkenga, 92, of Montague, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023. He was born on September 8, 1930, the son of Harry and Ella Sikkenga.

On August 30, 1952, he married the love of his life JoAnn Dahl, and they were blessed with 70 wonderful years together.

Richard graduated from Montague High School in 1948, and proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1948-1952.

He enjoyed family first and foremost. He liked sitting on their deck soaking up the sun and watching the birds.  He also liked playing a friendly wager game of Setback with his family and enjoyed following Montague HS, Detroit, and Michigan sports.

He is survived by: his wife, Jo Ann Sikkenga; children, Julie (James) Mikkelson, Rick (Sue) Sikkenga, Rodney (Mary) Sikkenga, and Daniel (Pam) Sikkenga; grandchildren, Katy (Greg) Nash, Jessica (Nate) TenBrink, Scott Sikkenga, Tara (Drew) Standfuss, Landi (Jake) Snowdin, and Bailey and Ally Sikkenga; and great-grandchildren, Maddie, Amelia, Ellie TenBrink, and Paislee Standfuss.

Richard was preceded in death by: his parents, Harry and Ella Sikkenga; and sisters, Hazel Paeth and Helen Gradisher.

In accordance with Richard's wishes, cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date.

Memorials in Richard's name may be sent to the White Lake VFW Post #3256 or Hospice of Muskegon.
