Richard R. "Dick" Snyder, 88, of North Muskegon, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 1, 2021. He was born December 19, 1932, in Whitley County, Indiana, to Harry and Emma (Rupley) Snyder. He moved to the area in 1957, following the marriage to his first wife, Vera M. Buckley. On July 3, 1970, he married Narretta M. "Rita" Foster in Fennville, MI.
Dick worked as a machine operator for the City of Muskegon before retirement and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Dick loved camping, hunting, golfing, playing cards with his family, and spending time with his 24 grandchildren.
Survivors include: children, Richard (Donna) Snyder, Treva (Terry) Beach, Valarie (Gary) Anderson, Patrick Snyder, and Vanessa (Todd) Hyrns; step-children, Vickie Murphy, Tom (Tami) Foster, and Lorraine (Paul) Grabinski; two sisters, Virginia Doenges of South Whitley, Indiana, Jo Ann Byers of Warsaw, Indiana; and brother, John Snyder of Leesburg, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita in 2007; brothers, Paul and Ed; sister, Esther; and granddaughter, Amy Flemen; and son-in-law, Robert Murphy
A private graveside service will be held at Fruitland Township Cemetery.
A celebration of Dick's life will take place with his Indiana family at the South Whitley Community Building, 118 East Front Street, South Whitley, IN at a later date.
