Richard Witzke, loving father, doting grandfather, and loyal friend to many, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022.

Richard was born in Chicago on March 19, 1944, and the family moved to Montague in 1952. He was from the Montague Class of 1963 where he made many lifelong friends. Rich and Carol (Riggs) married August 27,1966, and had two children, John (Patricia Brown) Witzke and Renee (Greg Jacobs) Cherry; and three wonderful grandchildren, Seth Cherry, Lizzy Cherry, and Monique McNeil.

Rich was known for his love of vintage cars and fast motorcycles. He was able to share his passion with his favorite motorheads, Jim and Judi Nienhouse. After a 37 year career at EBW, Rich and Carol made many wonderful memories on their Honda Goldwing trike.

Rich is survived by: his wife Carol; kids; grandkids; his sister, Anna (Eiven) Overland; Uncle Leo and Aunt Erna Steinbrenner; many nieces and nephews; In-laws, Marva, Dave, and Marcia, and Mark and Juls Riggs.

Rich was preceded in death by: his parents, Arthur and Anna Witzke; his brother and sister-in-law, Art and Sally Witzke; and his in-laws, John and Ann Riggs, Gary Riggs, and Susan Saegesser.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM, Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, 413 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall, MI 49461, with a luncheon to follow. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Oceana Goodfellows.
