Rick Allen Lighton, 67, of Okemos, passed peacefully away Thursday, April 17, 2020. Rick was born March 27, 1953 in Muskegon.

Rick grew up on White Lake where he cemented lifelong friendships, boating, water skiing and developed a love for sunny day gatherings and lively conversation.

Rick graduated from Whitehall HS where he excelled in Football, Basketball and Track.  He later attended Muskegon Community College where he played basketball for two years.   After attaining his Master's Degree in Education from Michigan State University, he started his lifelong artistic journey painting action portraits for scores of world renown NBA players.  Rick's reputation as a nationally recognized artist were only overshadowed by his optimistic and friendly spirit, which served as an inspiration to all who crossed his path. Rick's legacy of artistic talent, independence and love of family and friends will live on in the memories of those who knew him.

Rick is survived by: two brothers, Jeff (Barbara) Lighton and Greg (Patty) Lighton; nephews, Brandon and Gregory Lighton; nieces, Michelle (Matt) Luttrell and Rebecca (Eric) Dietz; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: his father and mother, Robert and Beverly.

In keeping with his wishes, he will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held this summer in Whitehall for family and friends
