Schneider
October 10, 1925 – May 26, 2018
Rita Jean Schneider, 92, of Ludington, passed into the arms of her Lord, Saturday, May 26, 2018, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 10, 1925, in Munising, the daughter of Roy and Mazie (MacKenzie) Peters.
Rita was proud to have managed the footwear department at Montgomery Ward for over 25 years. She was an active member of St. Simon Catholic Church, in Ludington, where she enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. Rita also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, watching the Detroit Tigers, going bowling and working outdoors in her yard. Rita loved being with her family and going to breakfast with a group of longtime friends of hers and Ed's.
Rita is survived by: her children, Janet (Richard) Schab of Howard City, Alan (Cynthia) Schneider of Traverse City, Michael (Susan) Schneider of Jenison, Jean (Dennis) Mazur of Ludington, William (Deb) Schneider of Ludington and Marcia (James) Hitchcock of Los Lunas, New Mexico; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Bill (Jan) Peters and Harold (Margaret) Peters; 2 sisters, Carol Neal and Deanna (Bill) Noah; 2 sisters-in-law, June Carney and Freda Felan; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Becky Sopha.
Rita was preceded in death by: her husband, Edgar Steve Schneider in 2005; her parents; her grandson, Roger Gouin; her brother, Robert Peters; and 3 sisters, Marie Trudell, Helen Trudell and Ruthie Peters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, May, 30, 2018, at St. Simon Catholic Church, in Ludington, with Father Wayne B. Wheeler presiding. Interment will be in the Pere Marquette Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel, 309 South Washington Avenue, Ludington, and on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until time of Mass at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Simon Catholic Church.
