Mr. Robert J. Gebhart, age 63 of Hart, died Wednesday April 29, 2009. He was born May 10, 1945 to John and Beatrice (Dorrance) Gebhart. On October 16, 1965 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, he married Marilyn Schaner. Mr. Gebhart attended Michigan State University for two years and was a farmer all his life with his family on the Golden Hart Fruit Farms. Bob was very active in the community. He was involved with the Hart Public Schools, Hart Area Fire Department and the Hart Lions Club. While in the Lions Club, he started the Mickey Stanley Open Golf Outing and Lions Bingo. He was an avid golfer and bowler and was a very avid Michigan State University sports fan and followed the Detroit Lions. Bob had also owned and operated the Golden Hart Trucking Company. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and optimism. Bob always encouraged everyone. Even with his diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, it never held Bob back from living a productive life. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Marilyn of Hart; two children, Christy (Jeff) Forner of Hart and Jeff (Tammi) Gebhart of Hart; his granddaughter, Kendall Gebhart; his parents, John (Beatrice) Gebhart of Hart; his sister, Shirley (Bob) Oles of Hart. He was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Dayharsh, his mother and father in law, Ted (Genevieve) Schaner; his sister in law, Judith Schaner and his brother in law, James Van Tassel. The Funeral Service for Mr. Gebhart will be held Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. from St. Gregory Catholic Church with Fr. Ronald Schneider and Pastor Lorraine Boucon officiating. Interment in the Hart Cemetery. Visitation Friday 6-8 P.M. at the Tate-King Funeral Home and also Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Robert J. Gebhart Scholarship Fund through the Oceana County Community Foundation.
