Robert John Harmon, age 77 of Poughkeepsie, NY (formerly Hart, MI) went to be with his lord on Thursday November, 19th 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Charlene Harmon, parents, Melvin and Vendla Clark, and brothers, Thomas Harmon, Robert and Jack Brooks. He will be lovingly remembered by daughters, Teresa Boelens and Dorothy (Mike) Bostwick. His six grandchildren, Lindsey, Shannon, Erin, and Makenzie McDonald, and Hailey and Garrett Boelens. Domestic partner, Rachel Davis-Robinson, brothers, Melvin (Marilyn) Clark, Henry (June) Brooks, sister Elna Black, and sister-in-law Rindy Brooks. Several nieces and nephews; Cheri Harmon Simmons, Tom Harmon, Melissa, Mary Jo, and Melvin Clark, April Maples, and Nathan Jewett. He will be dearly missed by his lifelong friend, David Outcalt.
Robert was a retired Lt. Colonel of the US Army Reserve of the Transportation Battalion of Grand Rapids, MI, he was also a member if the American Legion. He came out of retired status to run the morgue at Dover, DE, during the Gulf War in1990. He enjoyed fishing the great lakes, restoring/pulling antique Farmall tractors, and feeding/watching the deer and the birds. Some of his past interests included, sled dog racing, scuba diving, and farming. The Funeral Service for Mr. Harmon will be held Monday, November 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM from the King Funeral Home-Hart, with the Rev. Steve Young officiating. Interment will be in the Hart Cemetery.
