Mr. Robert John Lorenz, age 91, of Hart, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Oceana County Medical Care Facility in Hart. He was born January 6, 1925, in Hart to Fred Henry and Ella Augusta (Schmidt) Lorenz. He was a graduate of Hart High School and proudly served his country in the United States Marines. In August of 1946, Robert married Phyllis June Daggett; they were married fifty years before her passing on April 28, 1997. Robert worked for the U.S. Post Service as a walking letter carrier and rural route driver for forty-six years before his retirement. He was a co-founder of the F.O.E. Bowling Lanes, worked at Hansen Foods, he was a member of the Marine Corp League Brett Witteveen Chapter, Pentwater VFW Post 6017, American Legion Post 234, Hart Lions Club and Elks Lodge. Bob was also a member and former Chief of the Hart Area Fire Department.

Robert is survived by his wife, Beverly Eitniear of Hart; daughter: Trudy (James) Anthony of Hart; son, Larry (Darla) Lorenz of Bay City; grandchildren, Jamie Pantis of NY, Jan (Mollie) Yabs & children of OH; step-daughter, Shelly (Craig) Cherry of OK; step-son, Kevin Eitniear of Hart; four step-grandchildren, Kim of Hart, Heather, Jenny, Tamara all of OK; great-grandson, Stephen Pantis of NY; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis June Lorenz; three brothers, Raymond Lorenz, Henry Lorenz, Edward Lorenz, and two sisters, Mammie and Alice.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Pentwater VFW Post 6017. The family requests that any memorials be directed to Pentwater VFW Post 6017, 8440 N US31, Pentwater MI 49449.
