Mr. Robert I. Moss, Sr., age 80 of Mears, died Saturday, March 14, 2009. He was born in Grand Rapids on June 29, 1928 to Herman and Tina (Huisman) Moss. He was a graduate of Grand Rapids South High School in 1946. Mr. Moss served his country in the Korean Era with the US Army. On September 16, 1949, he married Joyce DeYoung in Grand Rapids. He was self-employed in sales. In 1988 they moved to the Silver Lake and Mears area. His interests included fishing and travel, working in the yard, pool and woodworking, barbershop quartet singing, but most of all he enjoyed time with his family. Mr. Moss is survived by his wife of 59 years Joyce Moss; their children, Robert (Carol) Moss of Marshall, MI, Tom (Sharon) Moss of Jenison, MI and Julie (Cliff) Essenburg of Muskegon; four grandchildren, Lynn, Sarah, Lindsay and Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Herbert Moss. A Gathering for family and friends will be held Monday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the Tate-King Funeral Home.
