Obituary

Mr. Robert J. Rumsey, Sr., age 61 of Hart, died Saturday, May 30, 2009. He was born in Fremont, MI to Billy and Marjorie (McGahan) Rumsey. He married the former Judy Schaner at St. Gregory Catholic Church on September 16, 1989. Bob was a graduate and member of the class of 1966 of Hesperia High School. He was employed as an Engineer and in management at Howmet Corp., for 36 years until his retirement in 2004. Bob was an avid golfer and was a member of the Colonial Golf Club and was a former board member at the Oceana Golf Club. His interests included reading, vegetable gardening, working in the yard at home and also helped cook at the Oceana County Council on Aging Center. He was a volunteer for 20 years on the Hesperia Fire Dept. Most of all, Bob loved his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events. Bob is survived by his wife, Judy of Hart; his children, Jamie (Dan) Lash of Hesperia, Monica (Doug) Tucker of PawPaw, MI, Robert (Rachel) Rumsey, Jr. of Hesperia, Jill (Aaron Priebe) Rumsey of South Haven, MI; 2 step-children, Mindy (Mike) Whiteside of East Grand Rapids, MI, Keith (Michelle) Clark of San Antonio, TX; 13 grandchildren, Allegra, Hillary, Danny, Deborah, Jack, Audrey, Max, Sarah, Ben, Grace, Lucy, Will, Charlie; brothers and sisters, Bill Rumsey of Hesperia, Inez Dutcher of Hesperia, Art (Pam) Rumsey of Grand Haven, Don (Tammy) Rumsey of Upper Peninsula Michigan, Maxine (Eric) Michaels of Trinidad, CO, Kenny (Peggy) Rumsey of Hesperia, Barbie (Brad) Irey of Whitehall; brothers in law, Tom (Pat) Schaner of Hart, Larry (Chris) Schaner of West Palm Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Marjorie Rumsey, sister in law, Karen Rumsey; brother in law, Maurice Dutcher. The Funeral Service for Mr. Rumsey will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. from St. Gregory Catholic Church with Fr. Ronald Schneider presiding. Interment will be made in the Hart Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 P.M. at the Tate-King Funeral Home and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
