Robert Donald Schmidt, 90, of Whitehall, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019, at home with family.  He was born October 21, 1928, in Whitehall, the son of Andrew and Hulda Schmidt.

Robert married Audrey Joan Kroll on September 24, 1949. Together, they were blessed with three children and 57 years of marriage.  Robert worked at Muskegon Piston Ring and at Nestrom garage as a mechanic; and he owned a trucking business.  He was a fireman at White Lake Fire Authority, and in retirement, worked as a courier for Carey's Ent. He enjoyed shopping, fishing, camping, hunting, working on cars, and coffee with friends at the White Lake Senior Center. He was an energetic, hardworking, thrifty, loving, outgoing man, who loved life. He will be deeply missed.

Robert is survived by: his sons, Robert A. Schmidt and Charles H. Schmidt; his son-in-law, Greg (Denise) Johnson; his daughter-in-law, Janet Campagna; his granddaughters, Angela (Bob) Franklin, Traci (Brad) Murphy, and Amber (Jeremy) Scott; his great-grandchildren, Devon Schmidt, Colbe Flahive, Bryce Murphy, Braxton Murphy, Reilly Murphy, Raegan Murphy, Colin Flahive and Broedy Murphy; and his family dog, Charlie.

He was preceded in death by: his wife Audrey in 2007; his daughter, Linda Johnson; his grandson, Gregory Johnson; his parents; and his brothers, Edward and Richard Schmidt.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Lebanon Lutheran Church, 1101 South Mears Avenue, Whitehall, with Pastor Douglas Ogden officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church. Interment will take place in Oakhurst Cemetery in Whitehall.

Memorial contributions may be made to the White Lake Senior Center or to Tempting Tables.
