Mr. Roger Lee Bentz age 67 of Ludington, passed away Sunday October 18, 2015 after his battle with cancer. He was born May 21, 1948 in Ludington son of Wilbur and Jean (Hackett) Bentz.
He graduated from Ludington High School in 1966 where he played softball, football and basketball. He married Susan Silver on November 15, 1979. Together they shared 37 years of marriage and had their marriage blessed at St. Simon Catholic Church on September 19, 2015. He was employed in sales and marketing and retired in 2010. Roger was an avid golfer, a Beatles fan, loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He volunteered on the Relay for Life Committee for 10 years and was a member of the Ludington and Manistee Elks. He also volunteered at the Ludington Area Catholic School.
Roger is survived by his wife Susan of Ludington, MI; daughter, Jennifer Nielsen-Klotz of Ludington, MI; Jennifer's daughter & best bud Harper Klotz of Ludington, MI; his sister, Susan Bentz of Ludington, MI; sister-in-law, Diane (Steve) Imbemeo of Virginia; brothers-in-law, Mike (Denise) Silver of Connecticut; Mark (Doris) Silver of Ludington, MI; sister-in-law, Kelly (Tim) Berndt of Ludington, MI; mother-in-law, Joanne Silver Ludington, MI; former wife, Diane Nielsen of Ludington, MI; and their children, Paula Hoffman of Pentwater, MI; Greg Bentz of Wisconsin; Todd Bentz of Virginia, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Chris Bentz, father-in-law, Harvey Silver and his nephew Michael Berndt.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be offered Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Simon Catholic Church with Father Wayne B. Wheeler presiding. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior the Mass. Interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be given to the Ludington Area Catholic School, 700 East Bryant Avenue, Ludington, MI, 49431
