It is with great sadness and heavy hearts to announce the passing of Ross Klemko, aged 82, of Traverse City, on April 19, 2024. Ross passed away after a prolonged illness in recent years.
Ross was born on July 27, 1941, to June (Brownell) and Herbert Klemko in Saginaw, Michigan. After graduating from high school in 1959, he went on to study Education at Michigan State University, graduating in 1963. Ross was very proud to be a Spartan! After obtaining his degree, he became a teacher and principal in the Saginaw area.
After retiring in 2002, Ross moved to Traverse City. In 2005, he met his future bride, Jan Lozier. The two wed in 2009 and had 15 wonderful years together.
Ross's greatest hobby was fly fishing, he would go every chance he had. His favorite rivers were the Betsie and Manistee. He also loved animals, always having a dog or cat at home.
Ross was a family man and a man of God. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for many years. He had a contagious laugh that would bring a smile to everyone around him. Ross never met a stranger. He loved talking with people, was kind and had such a positive outlook on life.
Ross was predeceased by June (mother), Herbert (father), Carol (wife), Marilyn (wife) and Kerri (daughter). He is survived by Jan (wife), Robert (stepson).
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, in Traverse City, Michigan. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of Mass. For those unable to attend his service, it will be live streamed on www.sfparish.org.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, his family requests donations be made to Best Friends Animal Rescue, an organization that Ross felt strongly about.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell- Traverse City Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
