Mr. Roy Dean Griffis, age 86, of Pentwater, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015. He was born July 3, 1928, in Hart to Orlo and Bethel (Morton) Griffis. On June 23, 1951, Roy married Eileen R. Spykerman in Holland; they were married for sixty-three years. He worked for the Ford Body Shop and in 1959 founded West Michigan Carpet where he worked until his retirement in 1995. His sons Jared and Gregory have carried on the business their father founded. Roy enjoyed wood working, yard work, gardening, fishing, re-purposing items and was an avid reader. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pentwater.

Roy is survived by his wife: Eileen R. Griffis; five children, Jared (Pamela) Griffis of Pentwater, Gloria (Thomas) Gale of Siloam Springs, AR, Gregory (Kristi) Griffis of Scottville, Amanda (Keith) Jones of Holland, Andrew (Fritzi) Griffis of Tucson, AZ; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one brother: Donald (Fran) Griffis of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Beth Griffis in 1979; two sisters, Etta Lentz and Junelle Cluchey; and one brother, Morton Griffis.

The Memorial Service for Mr. Griffis will be Saturday, May 9, 2015, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Pentwater with Pastor Mark Lillie officiating. Interment will be in Pentwater Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, May 8, 2015, from 6:00 – 8:30 pm at First Baptist Church of Pentwater, 101 S. Rush St., Pentwater, MI.
