Obituary

Ruth J. Hoogerwerf, 92, of Whitehall, went to be with her Lord Thursday, July 27, 2017, with her family by her side.  She was born on December 2, 1924 to Joseph and Anna Wolosz.

Ruth graduated from Grand Rapids Central High School. She was blessed with 3 children in her life. She worked for Corduroy Rubber Company, National Brass, and was a key punch operator at home. The majority of her career was spent at Howmet as an executive secretary. She also volunteered at White Lake Community Library, at Evangelical Covenant Church as the librarian and worked on the public censes.

Ruth enjoyed crossword puzzles (in ink), gardening, bowling, fishing, going to summer cottages, reading, volunteering, traveling, and dancing. She was a self-sufficient, capable, strong, hard-working, dedicated woman with a unique sense of humor. One of the greatest joys in her life was her family. She will be deeply missed.

Ruth is survived by her children, David (Rebecca) Wallace, Lori (Don) Hulbert, and Deborah Bartoli; grandchildren, Joshua (Aubrey), Adam (Erin), Alexander (Mackenzie) and Anthony; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Ashlin, Gage and Aiden; and nieces, Karen (Tom) and Nancy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Theresa DeBoer and Maxine Myers.

A private graveside service will take place and Ruth will be laid to rest at Oakhurst Cemetery in Whitehall.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Ottawa County.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
