Mrs. Ruth Ann Kokx, age 78, of Hart, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013. She was born September 10, 1935, in Hart, Michigan, to Ermine and Leola (Bellgraph) Alvesteffer. She graduated from Hart High School with the Class of 1953 and was employed at GTE/Verizon as a dispatcher.
Mrs. Kokx enjoyed gardening, making ceramics, and did furniture upholstery. An avid quilter, she made quilts for all of her grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by one daughter, Julie (Rick) Wadel of Hart; two sons, David (Pamela) Kokx of Hart, and Mark (Teresa) Kokx of Ludington; eleven grandchildren, Heather Creed, Jason Kokx, Megan Meitner, Jennie Gerardi, Jacob Wadel, Ben Wadel, Kelly Wadel, Jessica Wadel, Erika Wadel, Madeleine Kokx, and Markus Kokx; seven great-grandchildren, McKenna Miller, Layla Creed, Tristyn Creed, Ian Kokx, Ava Kokx, Elizabeth Gerardi, and August Gerardi; one sister, Clara Jean (LaVern) Monton of Pentwater; four brothers, Jerome (Ruth) Alvesteffer of Hart, Richard (Connie) Alvesteffer of Hart, Donald (Delores) Alvesteffer of Rothbury, and Leon (Laura) Alvesteffer of Hesperia; and brother-in-law, Bob Fillips of Hart. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Glen Alvesteffer, and a sister, Shirley Fillips.

The Memorial Service for Mrs. Kokx will be Monday, December 30, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at King Funeral Home in Hart with Father Phillip Sliwinski officiating.
