Mrs. Ruth Ellen Monroe, of New Era, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015. She was born January 22nd in Yale, MI to William and Norma (Church) Converse. She attended Davenport University majoring in Business and graduated with a two year degree. She was employed as a secretary at Michigan State University in the Economics Dept. On July 1, 1964 Ruth married James H. Monroe; they were married fifty-one years. Ruth was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Era. She enjoyed flower gardening and traveling the United States and World. Ruth is survived by her husband, James H. Monroe; one daughter, Carol Johnson of New Era; three grandchildren, David, Steven, and Karen; four great-granddaughters, Sarah, Emily, Leah, and Emma; one niece, Linda Juliano of Fremont; four step-nieces, Mary, Trina, Josie, and Ginny. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother Glenn Converse. There will not be a service as per the desired wishes of Mrs. Monroe. The family requests that any memorials be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church Music Dept., 5631 W. Stony Lake Rd., New Era, MI 49446.
