Ryan John Swanker, 39, of New Era, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020. He was born May 26, 1980, in Muskegon, the son of James and Bonnie (Johnson) Swanker.

Ryan was a graduate of Mona Shores High School, class of 1999. He went on to continue his education, and became a Master Electrician. He was currently the Director of Facilities and Maintenance at Peterson Farms, Inc., in Shelby.

Ryan loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and boating. He also enjoyed Detroit Tigers baseball. Ryan loved his family and friends, and he gave the best hugs in the world. It sometimes felt like you might break, but they are unforgettable.

Ryan married Deborah (Emery) Swanker on September 21, 2012, and she survives him. He is also survived by: his parents; siblings, Jason Swanker, Carrie Fitzgerald, and Dana (Andy) Hogston; nieces, Olivia Hogston and Mallory Hogston; nephews, Dylan Fitzgerald and Brett Fitzgerald; aunts and uncles, Bob (Jan) Swanker, Mari (Dayre) Newport, Jack Swanker, Frank Johnson, and Gary Johnson; fur babies, Sasha and Izzy; several cousins; and an amazing group of friends.

Ryan was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Robert and Brunhilda "Bea" Swanker and Frank and Dora Johnson; aunt, Sandra Kibbey; and uncle, John Johnson.

Cremation has taken place and a service to celebrate Ryan's life will be held at a later date.
