Obituary

Scott Thomas LaBo, 67, of Twin Lake, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025. He was born May 7, 1957, in Harvey, Illinois, the son of Thomas and Virginia (Love) LaBo. Scott loved his children, grandchildren, extended family, friends, and dogs.

Scott retired as a manager of income tax auditors from the Michigan Department of Treasury. He worked hard to do the right thing for the taxpayers and understood they paid his salary. He made sure if you were due a refund, you got it!

An audiophile, he looked forward to attending an upcoming Linkin Park concert. A closet Swifty, he thought it would be fun to exchange friendship bracelets with his surgeon and her staff because they played Taylor Swift in the operating room. He enjoyed Korean drama series. He felt the storylines were written with a defined beginning and end. An avid gamer, he was known to host epic gaming parties. Small children and some adults greeted him as Santa. He had a deep and beautiful belly laugh. On the shy side, he showed his wife his love by singing with her in his lovely bass voice for a year with the White Lake Chorale. He fell ill the day after this year's Christmas concert. As a youth, he was known to family as a card shark due to his near photographic memory. He was hard to argue with because 95% of the time he was right.

We believe he passed on New Year's Day to ensure his wife could use his tax deduction for 2025!

Scott is survived by: his wife and best friend of over four decades, Jeanne Day-LaBo; daughter, Amanda LaBo-Walters; twin sons, Sean LaBo and Alex LaBo; grandsons, Kevin and Aiden; and many beloved extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held later in the year.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Newaygo Fremont Compassion Center or Alcoholics Anonymous.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
