Obituary

Scottie Ransom, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on February 19, 2025, at the age of 80. Known for her witty humor and boundless kindness, Scottie touched the lives of all who knew her.

Born on November 14, 1944, to Merlin and Mary Dukes, Scottie tragically lost her father early in life when Merlin fell in battle on January 13, 1945, during World War II in Belgium. In 1947, her mother remarried Raymond Ramthun, who later adopted Scottie and her siblings, raising them with love and care.

Scottie built a dedicated career as an inspector at Howmet Castings / Aerospace, where she worked from approximately 1973 until her retirement in 2004. She was also a lifetime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Whitehall, where her faith and devotion were a cornerstone of her life.

She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Ransom, stepchildren, Shelly Ransom, Michael Ransom, and the late James Ransom (d. 2021). Scottie was a cherished sister to the late Roger Ramthun (d. 2024) (Dukes), Sharon (Dan) Brandt (Dukes), Marcella (Sis) Sorensen (d. 2013) (Ramthun), John Ramthun, and Wayne Ramthun. Her greatest joy was her family, including her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Andrew (Andy) Young (son) & Barb Young (wife), Andie Young (granddaughter) &Cameron Suarez (husband), Wren Suarez (great-granddaughter), Angela Young (daughter), Alex Lorenz (granddaughter), Adelynne Lorenz (great-granddaughter), Liam Lorenz (great-grandson), Evianna Lorenz (great-granddaughter), and Wesley Carmona (great-grandson).

Scottie's warmth, humor, and generosity left a lasting impact on those around her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A service in her honor will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, in Whitehall, with details to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Faith Lutheran Church or a charity of choice in Scottie's memory.

May she rest in eternal peace, her laughter and kindness never forgotten.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
