IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharolyn Rose
Hendrick
March 9, 1962 – April 6, 2021
Sharolyn Rose Hendrick, 59, of Lake Ann, peacefully passed away at home on April 6, 2021 surrounded by love.
Sharolyn was born on March 9, 1962, in Tacoma, WA. to Dale Ashley Penny Sr. and Sharon Rose (Duggan). After Sharolyn graduated from Glen Lake High School in 1980, she studied early childhood education at Kirtland Community College where she met the love of her life, Donald "Don" Edward Hendrick on February 1, 1981.
Sharolyn and Don were married on September 19, 1981 in Alpena, MI. Together they lovingly raised two wonderful children, Penny Lynn and Michael Edward. For 27 years, they lived around the country and in Japan as Don served in the United States Air Force.
Sharolyn was fiercely dedicated to her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Family came first and was above all else to Sharolyn, a value she instilled in all those around her. She would tell everyone that the best job she ever had was being a stay-at-home Grandma. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill. Sharolyn found joy in paper crafting and made countless cards for so many. She loved the sound of her backyard pond and seeing the frogs and fish. She found and focused on the good in everything.
Surviving Sharolyn are her loving husband Don of 39 years; children, Penny (Michael) Cox and Michael (Valarie Handy) Hendrick; grandchildren, Hunter, Alyse, Benjamin, Skylar, Chloe, and Zackary, sister Laura (Raymond) Salisbury; brothers Dale Penny Jr., Kevin (Tina) Penny, Thomas (Teletha) Penny, and David (Christie) Penny; and many other loving family members and friends.
Sharolyn was preceded in death by her parents, and nephews, Kevin and Michael Penny.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Sharolyn's name to Relay for Life of Grand Traverse, American Cancer Society at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/sharolynswarriors . A private service will be held with burial to take place at a later time at Green Briar Cemetery. As Sharolyn wished, a celebration of life with family and friends will be held later this summer complete with love, laughter, corn hole, food, and a few cold ones by the bonfire and pond.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
