IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon Kay
Yanska
February 14, 1954 – April 18, 2025
Sharon Kay Yanska (Lewis)
February 14th,1954-April 18th, 2025
Sharon passed away in the loving arms of her family on April 18th, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents Jack and Wilma Lewis, brother Jackie Lewis, mother-in-law Evelyn Yanska and brother-in-law Randy Yanska. On May 31st, 1975, she married Rodney Yanska, and they were blessed with three children Elizabeth, Jennifer (Brett Busick), and Melissa (Quentin Priest). Six grandchildren Cole and Brennan Busick along with Samara, Joseph, Tyleen and Rachel Priest.
She will be sadly missed by her father-in-law Frank, Roger and Gail Yanska, Ray and Kris Yanska, Nancy and Joe Hanley and many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her lifelong childhood friend Gale Adams.
Sharon was a lover of all animals and had a variety of pets over the years. She was a wonderful cook and could make most meals from memory with whatever items she found in the kitchen. Her family heavily relied on her to help with recipes, meal planning and fixing a meal that had gone awry. Sharon also loved plants and had a natural green thumb that she tried many times to pass down to her daughters. She delighted in caring for old cactuses and other plants that have been handed down over the years.
Sharon had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. She was a very good sport and put up with many shenanigans over the years, especially from her middle daughter Jenny. Sharon loved shopping, travelling locally and dining out. Her daughters Liz and Melissa were known to take her on long excursions to try something new. We would like to honor her memory by remembering her for her generous heart, quick wit and her loving spirit.
Rodney and Sharon were looking forward to spending more time together and celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary on May 31st this year. Their love story began in the fall of 1973 at Northwestern Michigan College which led to their 1st date at The Burger Chef. I'm sure Sharon would have liked to know that this anniversary would have been a step up from hamburgers. Sharon's greatest title was that of being called "grandma". Spending time with her grandsons Cole and Brennan was always a top priority. She never failed to deliver the sought-after toys, the best candy and the endless shopping trips. Without her, many band concerts, soccer games and track meets, would not have been the same. When Melissa married Quentin, he brought four children into the family and Sharon openly embraced them without hesitation.
The family would like to offer a sincere thank you to the staff and team of doctors at The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio that have allowed us to enjoy these last 13 years with Sharon. Without them and their efforts we would not have had the years that we were given.
The family will be having a graveside memorial on June 21st ,2025 at 1 PM at Evergreen Cemetery in Kingsley Michigan for those wishing to pay their respects.
Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Kingsley Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
