Shirley Mary Novotny, 96, of Pentwater, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021, at her home. She was born July 25, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Matthew and Lillian (Hagedorn) Heinz.

Shirley enjoyed golfing with friends, enjoying meals at the Oceana County Commission on Aging, and was a faithful member at St. Vincent Catholic Church, having been very active with the Altar Society.

On September 28, 1946, Shirley married George Novotny, and he survives her after 75 years of marriage. She is also survived by: her daughters, Lynn "Buffy" (Mike) Curtis and Donna (Mark) Ryan; grandchildren, Brad (Joanna) Curtis, Erin (Daniel) Forslund, Sean (Morgan) Ryan, and Ian (MaKenzie Clark) Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Emma Curtis, Ewan Curtis, Liam Curtis, Wyatt Forslund, and Hoyt Forslund.

In accordance with Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the spring.
