Obituary

Shirleyann Pearl Pigeon (nee Kadrovach) of Crystal Lake, Illinois (formerly of Elk Rapids, Michigan) returned to her heavenly home on August 16, 2022

Shirleyann was born to Joseph and Eva Kadrovach on November 13, 1936 in Traverse City Michigan. Shirleyann received her associate degree after attending Northwestern Michigan College. While attending Ferris State Institute she met the love of her life Peter Pigeon. Peter and Shirley were married on April 27, 1957 and they remained so for the next 61 years until Peter's death in 2018.

Shirley and Pete moved many times before settling in Carol Stream Illinois to raise their daughters. They stayed there for 27 years and then retired back to Michigan in 1993.

Shirley worked as a bookkeeper out of her home while her daughters were young. Once her girls were older, she went to work for a CPA firm. Upon retiring to Michigan, she continued on with bookkeeping for a few more years with clients from Illinois sending her the work.

Shirley lived a life of service. When her girls were school age Shirley volunteered her time in the schools. She was a room mother, a picture lady, a library assistant, and a member of the PTA. Shirley equally gave her time to her church. She sang in the church choir, worked on the altar guild, sewed banners, and tied quilts. She taught vacation bible school each year, worked rummage sales, baked for bake sales, created flower arrangements for the altar and acted as the treasurer for many years.

Shirley was an avid gardener. Her yard was always filled with many kinds of flowers. She always had a large vegetable garden, and she would freeze and can many vegetables and fruits to feed her family all year long. She was a wonderful cook; her Thanksgiving dinner was unbeatable.

In her free time Shirley enjoyed singing with the community choir, watching the birds in her yard, reading romance novels, and solving sudoku puzzles. Shirley was a kind and selfless person and had a glorious smile. She loved spending time with friends. Most of all, Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family.

Shirley is survived by her two daughters Kathryn (Dan) Dziewior, Lisa (David) Price; three grandchildren, Brittany (Paul) Fatzinger, Michael (Jacqueline) Corbett, and Brandon (Taylor) Corbett; great-grandchildren, Mason and Miles Fatzinger, Abbigail and Parker Lehn, (soon expected twins) baby girl and baby boy Corbett, Declan, and twins Collins and Kennedy Corbett.  Shirley is also survived by two brothers Eugene (Julie) Kadrovach and Joseph (Debbie) Kadrovach, plus many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Shirley was predeceased in death by her husband Peter and her parents.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday August 27, 2022 at 2pm at Grace Lutheran Church, Elk Rapids with the viewing beginning at 1pm.
