Obituary

Dr. Stanley Seuferer Jr., 63, died Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at his home in Ludington, Michigan.

Stan was born December 24, 1953, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Stanley and Ethel Seuferer. He graduated from Dowling Catholic High School and the University of Iowa.  His received a master's degree in microbiology from Louisiana State University.  He then joined the U.S. Air Force and attended medical school at Des Moines University.

Stan married Maryellen Cero in 1982. They lived in Kettering, OH and Dallas, TX before moving to Ludington in 1990. Maryellen preceded him in death in 2008.

Stan was the medical director for the Hadley Center for Psychiatric Care from 1990 until 2016, and was Chief of Staff at Memorial Medical Center of West Michigan 2009 to 2011.   The Lighthouse Professional Clinic was his private psychiatric practice. From 2013-2017, he worked for Lighthouse Psychiatric Services at Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital. Earlier this year, he began working with Health West in Muskegon. Throughout his life and career, Stan was always mindful of the legacy he was leaving on this earth.  Today and into the future, we celebrate his legacy in abundance.  It remains in the memory of his caring, his humor and all the lives he changed and touched over the years.

He is survived by his friend, Lori Neumann, Ludington; his two sisters, Joanne Wilkinson, Des Moines, Iowa, and Janet Kalderon, Venice, Fla.; his nieces, Aileen Fenton, Des Moines, and Joleen Wilkinson, New York, NY; his nephews, Mark Kalderon, London, England, and Steven Kalderon, Minneapolis, Minn.; his great nephew, Maxwell Fenton, and great niece, Alexandra Fenton, both of Des Moines.

No services are planned.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Ludington Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association or the Second Chance Humane Society of Mason County.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel, Ludington, is in charge of arrangements.
