Stephen (Steve) Dale Haughton, born in Traverse City, July 23, 1963, passed away unexpectedly at home April 18, 2024.

He was employed at Jacklin Steel as a CAD operator and designer for almost 29 years. He enjoyed volleyball, running and was an avid Chargers football fan. He enjoyed cooking for his family and his beautiful yard.

Steve graduated from San Pasqual High School, studied at Palomar College and studied computer science at San Diego State University.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Tammy (Baynton) Haughton and his 4 special cats. His mother Barbara Schmuckal and stepfather Allan Schmuckal. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Marie Baynton. Half siblings, Amber Schmuckal-Belvin (Ricky), David (Melinda) Haughton, Sarah Haughton and Jess (Antony) Lyon and nieces Hannah Belvin, Mary and Eden Haughton and nephews Beau Belvin and Jules Lyon.

He was preceded in death by his father George Haughton and his stepmother Fran Haughton.

Steve was a loving and caring man with a big heart. He will be deeply missed.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, 200 N. Brownson Avenue, Kingsley, Michigan 49649, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of services.  A luncheon will follow at St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Church in Kingsley.
