Obituary

Stephen George Kane, 73, passed away on June 2, 2024. Steve was born and grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan where he met and married his wife, Anna. They moved to Traverse City in 1980 with their son, Clint, and later welcomed their daughter Emily.

Steve enjoyed music, playing guitar, watching the neighborhood deer, reading his Bible, exploring the outdoors, the U.P., and cars, but his true love was his family. Steve was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, a dedicated and loving father to his children, and the proudest Papa to his grandchildren. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his loved ones and praising his family to anyone who would listen. Steve never met a stranger, never saw a problem he didn't want to solve, and never passed up a chance to say, "I Love You". Above all else, Steve's faith in Christ was the foundation of his life.

Steve's sense of humor was cherished by so many. His practical jokes, silly dances, Kung-Fu kicks, and his amazing story-telling sound effects will be treasured memories for all who experienced them. Steve's family would often beg for him to share their favorite stories no matter how many times he'd told them before. Steve was known to perform a farewell 'Papa Dance' following family dinners.

Steve is survived by his adored wife Anna (Buhro), daughter Emily (Pieter) Sheridan, daughter-in-law Sara (Niskanen) Kane, and his four granddaughters Celia (9), Dylan (7), and Sofie (3) Kane, and Ellie Sheridan (3), sisters Susan (Joe) Randazzo and Jan (Chuck) Herring, sister-in-law Helen (Dave) MacArthur, brother-in-law Dan Buhro (Sherri McFarlane), sister-in-law Charlene (Jeff) Tistle, brother-in-law Mark Buhro, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Steve had an incredible ability to connect with people and leaves behind so many whose lives he touched. Steve joins his parents Jean and George Kane, sister Nancy (Charlie) Iknayan, and beloved son Clint Kane.
