Obituary

Steven Ernest Fischer, age 59, passed away unexpectedly on May 25, 2026.

Steve was born in Bay City, Michigan, and grew up in Unionville, Michigan graduating from Unionville Sebewaing Area High School. Growing up on the farm with his family was the beginning of his love for mechanical work. Steve went on to graduate from Ohio Diesel Technical Institute and worked as a certified diesel mechanic.

One lucky day at Wisner United Methodist Church Steve met the love of his life, Lauri. Steve and Lauri were inseparable until the day of his passing.

After life in the big city for a few years Steve went on to purchase his diamond in the rough in the woods of Kingsley to raise his family and be in God’s country every day. They built their house from just a shell and made it into their home.

On June 24th in 2003 Steve and Lauri had their daughter, Zoe. Zoe was the twinkle in Steve’s eyes and made their home a place for family.

In his spare time Steve loved to wrench on anything with a motor but most of all he loved to be outside hunting, fishing, and camping with his daughter, nephews and anyone else willing to put up the good fight for wild game. By far winter was Steve’s favorite season. Chasing the snow on his snowmobile with his friends was high on his list of favorite activities. The goal of the Guinness book of world records for the longest snowmobile parade remaining just out of reach.

Steve grew up in a large family with many relatives and was preceded in death by his parents, Vermelda and Ernie, and his oldest sister Charlinda and brother-in-law Mark Kent.

Remaining on earth to cherish his memory is his loving wife Lauri, beautiful daughter, Zoe, Sisters Rebecca (William) Faller, Cindy Jenkins, Susan (Neil) Schumann, Linnaea (Mark) Ewald, Treasa Fischer-Ross, and of course the best brother ever, Harvey (Kelly) Fischer.

There are scores of nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, but especially important to Steve was Justin, Josh, and Nathan who never missed a good hunt.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, 200 N Brownson Avenue, Kingsley, Michigan 49649 with visitation beginning at 12:30 PM.
