Sylvia Ann (Heyboer) Cargill, of Elk Rapids Michigan, passed away peacefully in her home on September 19, 2021, at age 78 surrounded by her family.
Sylvia was born in Grand Rapids, to Gilbert and Norma (Dabakey) Heyboer. She graduated from Ottawa Hills High School and went on to marry Thomas N. Cargill at East Congregational Church in 1964. They had 3 children and lived in the Cascade and Ada townships before moving to Sun Valley, Idaho, in 1979.
After returning to Grand Rapids, Sylvia had a career with Lifetouch National Schools Studios for 22 years. She also carried on her parent's seasonal flower business for over 3 decades.
Upon retirement, she made the cottage her father built in Elk Rapids her permanent home. She was an active grandparent and participated in the community organizations. She was best known for her warm hospitality, generosity, and vitality for life.
Sylvia is survived by her 3 children, Marcia L. Cargill (Elk Rapids, MI), Amy Jo Cargill (Jackson Hole, WY), and Michael T. Cargill (Grand Rapids, MI). In addition to her siblings, Larry (Priscilla) Heyboer (Grand Rapids MI), Marcia Dyer (Victor, ID), and Linda Mueller (Traverse City, MI); she had 6 nieces and nephews with whom she was very close as well as 3 grandchildren, Raymond, Brendan, and Olivia.
In lieu of flowers, Sylvia has asked that donations be made to your favorite charity or hospice organization. Remembrances of Sylvia are appreciated by the family and can be sent c/o the funeral home.
The family will be holding a private celebration of life for her at her residence.
