Ted Matthew McKissack, 89, of Mears, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021. He was born September 13, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Madison and Isabelle (Gruette) McKissack.

Ted proudly served his country and is a veteran of the US Army. He enjoyed many facets of life, including owning and piloting a hot air balloon, sailing, golfing, and collecting pottery with his late wife, Barbara. He was a managing engineer for many years at GM in Ann Arbor, and was a faithful member of St. Gregory Catholic Church in Hart, and St. Joseph Weare Catholic Church.

Ted is survived by: his children, Dan (Kathie) Snyder, Karen (Bill) Weideman, and Laurie Buursma; grandchildren, Will Weideman, Sara (Tim) Harmsen, and Katherine (Hunter) Merrill; and great-grandchildren, Cole Harmsen, Cooper Harmsen, Wyatt Harmsen, and Calloway Merrill.

On November 5, 2005, Ted married Kathleen (Alderink) McKissack, and she preceded him in death on December 6, 2021. He was also preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Charlotte Tucker; brothers, Terry McKissack, Fred McKissack, and Frank McKissack; and former wife, Barbara McKissack.

Mass of Christian Burial for Ted and his wife, Kathleen, will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at St. Gregory Catholic Church, 316 South Peach Avenue, Hart, MI 49420, with Rev. Daniel Schumaker officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM, Monday, December 13, 2021, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, 2370 North 72 ^nd Avenue, Hart, MI 49420, with a praying of the Rosary at 6:30 PM. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Weare Township.
