Terry A.
Onan
August 21, 1953 – October 28, 2023
In loving memory of Terry A. Onan, 70 years old, who went to rest with his Savior on October 28, 2023.
Terry was born August 21, 1953. Originally from Lowell, MI, he then moved to Rockford in 1980. Terry was a jack-of-all-trades and could fix anything. He worked as an auto mechanic at Car Care Unlimited for years and then as a carpenter until 2009. Terry was grateful for his 10 years of sobriety and all of his AA family from the North Alano Club.
Terry is survived by: his wife, Janet; his children, James (Holly) Shupe and Jennifer (Brian) Gray; grandchildren, Brennon (Kaylee) Shupe, Olivia Shupe, and Jordan Gray; along with two great-grandsons, Thomas and Waylon Shupe. Also surviving are: his brother, Merle Onan; sisters, Cherie (Paul) Richardson, Dianna Bulthuis, and Georgeann (Tim) Andrews; sister-in-law, Sandy Onan; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Mary Allen; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Ronley and Ruth Onan; brothers, Bob (Marilyn) Onan and Dick Onan; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Linda Norton; and in-laws, Ray and Marvel Idema.
A special thank you to our very special friend Sandy Cleveland for being by our side during this difficult time. We'd also like to thank the nurses and staff at Faith Hospice, specifically Andrea, Heather, Kailyn, Kim, and Ann for their compassion, love and beautiful care of Terry.
