Terry Leroy Sanderson, 72, of Williamsburg, passed away unexpectedly on February 9, 2022 with both his daughters by his side. He was born January 22, 1950, in Saginaw, the son of Max and Mary (Baudoux) Sanderson.

Terry was an amazing human. He loved his family, and his grandkids and dogs were his greatest joys. "It's a very good thing to be a grandpa with grandkids," and "I love those kids so much!" are notes Terry kept in his phone. Walking around his house you'd be sure to stumble upon a profound saying, special memory, or a simple reminder note like, "Don't forget to brush your hair," all written down.

Along with family, Terry also found daily joy in drinking tea, playing with his audio equipment, watching Tigers baseball, and relaxing to music. Jimi Hendrix was Terry's favorite musician, Miguel Cabrera was his favorite baseball player, and the Laurel & Hardy show was some of his favorite comedy. Like all the Sanderson boys, he brought humor, smiles, and laughter to everyone around him. Terry was also a people person. He talked to everyone he ran into about anything and everything and because of this, Terry made many friends along the way. He loved his hairdresser, the employees of City Mac, and his entire medical team. His passing left a hole in the hearts of everyone he touched in life.

Terry spent the last 7 months of his life battling lung cancer. Every member of his oncology team at Cowell Family Cancer Center were very special to him. His daughters would like to express their extreme gratitude for the time and patience the staff spent getting to know Terry, and to care for him with love and kindness every step of the way. A special heartfelt thank you goes out to Hannah, the ICU nurse who spent many hours sitting at Terry's bedside, holding his hand and listening to his favorite music with him.

Terry is survived by: his mother, Mary Sanderson; son, TJ (Jeannette) Sanderson; daughters, Brandi (Joe) Dunnill and Kelli Sanderson; brothers, Tommy Sanderson and Tim (Tammy) Sanderson; sister, LuAnn (Scott) Rozema; grandchildren, Jacob, Terrymark, Jacy, Christian, Novalee, Bernice, Cale, Opal Jo, Lena, and Penny Lane; ex-wife, Pamela (Steve) Berry; in-laws, Joe and Annie Harrison, and Lisa Yost; and his beloved dog, Lacy.

Terry was welcomed to Heaven by: his father, Max LeRoy Sanderson; brother, Danny Sanderson; son, Baby Ray Sanderson; and his beloved dog, Stanly.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Monday, February 14, 2022, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made out to the ASPCA, local animal shelters or rescues, and the Cowell Family Cancer Center.
