Thena Christine "Christy" Alligood

January 1, 1976 – September 28, 2025

Christy Alligood, of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, passed away peacefully after a short battle with brain cancer, Sunday, September 28th, 2025.

Christy was born in Agana, Guam, January 1,1976, the daughter of Stephen Alligood and Nanette Azevedo. Christy was a devoted mother to Story Gerdes, who she affectionately called her "Punky Munkey". She always considered Story her miracle child because she had her later in life after years of being the "cool aunt" to her nephews and nieces, Bryan, Mikayla, Hanna, Nevaeh, Tatyana, Mikey, and Jada.

Those who were blessed to know Christy will remember her for her sense of humor, laugh, smile that would light up a room and make all your worries disappear, and her unwavering compassion for anyone she came into contact with. She has left behind family and life long friends who will never forget the love she brought into this world.

Christy is survived by: her daughter, Story Gerdes: father, Stephen Alligood (Alice); mother, Nanette Azevedo (Jerry); siblings, Amy, Becky (Kevin), Stephanie (Jason), Andrew (Jerrica), Aaron, Jenny (Ronnie), and Jaymee (Tim);  her cousins, Derek (Nicki), Jennifer (Kenneth), Melissa (Marty), and Suzy (Ben); numerous other family members; and many friends whom she considered family.

Christy was preceded in death by: her grandparents, Howard and Lois Wolpert and Edgar and Thena Alligood;  her uncle, Raliegh Alligood; her cousin, Greg Alligood; and her Step-brother, Tony Azevedo.

In accordance with Christy's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Sault Ste. Marie, MI.
