Soles
September 10, 1957 – February 16, 2019
Therese Marie Soles, 61, of Scottville, formerly of Grosse Ile, passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019, at the Oceana County Medical Care Facility in Hart. She was born September 10, 1957, in Detroit, the daughter of Gerald and Barbara (Reckinger) Lyons.
Therese worked as a secretary for 20 years for St. Jerome Catholic Church in Scottville, and St. Mary Catholic Church in Custer. Prior to the church, Therese worked in the layout design department at the Ludington Daily News. She also was an adjunct professor of drawing and art design at West Shore Community College for many years.
Therese was a talented artist and was the president of the Mural Society of Mason County painting 3 murals in Ludington. Therese loved animals especially her Bichon Frise, Angel. She also loved horses and served on the Mason County Sheriff's Department Mounted Division. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening. Most of all, Therese loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
On July 24, 1982, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Trenton, Therese married Marc Soles, who survives her. She is also survived by her children: Alexander (Kristine) Soles of Brighton, Zachary (Faith) Soles of Nampa, Idaho, and Danielle (Matthew) Zalewski of Scottville; 7 grandchildren: Madelynn, Emelia, Levi, Elias, Adeleine, John "Jack", and Havilah; 7 brothers and sisters: Frank (Janet) Lyons of Grosse Ile, Connie (Mark) Tackett of Dearborn Heights, David (Wendy) Lyons of Canton, Georgia, Annette Kline of Lake Orion, Jerry (June) Lyons of Chesapeake, Virginia, Katrina (Rob) Reimel of Grosse Ile, and Christopher (Billie Miller) Lyons of Sandia Park, New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Therese was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Colleen McAughey.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Pere Marquette Chapel, 309 S. Washington Avenue, Ludington, with Father Wayne B. Wheeler presiding. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time of services at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian Burial will also be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 18, 2019, St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Trenton, Michigan, with Father Stephen Rooney presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until time of Mass. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, 18303 Allen Road, Riverview, Michigan.
