Thomas Glenn Conrad, 70, of Whitehall, ended his earthly journey on Sunday, August 16, 2026, and began his everlasting life in heaven with his Lord and Savior. He was born on September 13, 1955 in Elmhurst, Illinois, the son of Earl and Marjorie (Hepperle) Conrad.

Thomas (Tom) graduated from Glenbard East High School (Lombard, Illinois) in 1973.

Tom grew up riding motorcycles and was a competitive motocross racer. Racing alongside his younger brother and friends, Tom traveled across the state throughout his late teens and twenties for races on the weekends, prepping their bikes during the week to make them race-worthy. Practice sessions were regularly held on a large undeveloped property in the area (now the Whitehall Industrial Park).

On June 14, 1975, Tom married Dorothy Korcyzk; together they celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Tom and Dorothy raised four children: Alicia (Jason) Crompton, Nathan (Mary) Conrad, Shaun (Kailee) Conrad, and Jordan Conrad. They are blessed with nine grandchildren: Jorie, Lily, Brioney, Bryson, Indira, Avonlea, Kiera, Cali, and Avion. Tom was looking forward to the arrival of a new grandson due in November.

Tom was preceded in death by: his parents, Earl and Marjorie Conrad, in 2013, and his son, Nathan Conrad, in 2023.

Tom started his career as a machinist at the Conrad Machine Press Company, and quickly became a pioneer in fine art printmaking, dedicating his working life to making this time-honored art form accessible to everyone through high-quality, affordable art equipment.

His innovative printmaking press designs changed the world of print forever, helping tens of thousands of artists over four decades expand their creativity and artistic abilities. Tom’s designs and contributions are now sought after on a global scale.

Tom also believed deeply in the preservation of art and the equipment used to make it. He was responsible for the production, preservation, and restoration of more printmaking presses than any other person in the last century, with the hope that the next generation will carry on the tradition of his beloved art form.

As a civic leader, Tom served on the Whitehall City Council for numerous terms, later being appointed to the City Zoning Board of Appeals, where he served as its Chairman for over a decade.

Tom also served on the board and as president of the Upper Silver Lake Improvement Association for many years, managing crucial waterfront and environmental infrastructure projects.

Tom was a member of Rothbury Community Church. He enjoyed studying theology, apologetics, and the defense of his Christian faith, debating with those both inside and outside the Christian tradition as well as the cults. Some of his favorite passages were 1 Peter 3:15 and 2 Timothy 2:15.

Tom leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, family, craftsmanship, and a willingness to serve that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.

Memorial services will be conducted on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at Rothbury Community Church, 2500 Winston Rd., Rothbury, MI 49452. Visitation at 3:00 pm; service at 4:00pm, with luncheon following service.
