Thomas Joseph Foster, Jr., 72, of Hart, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Tom was born on March 28, 1946, in Hart, to Thomas Joseph and Kathleen (Roche) Foster, Sr. and graduated from Hart High School in 1964.
Tom married Linda Mitteer on June 19, 1965 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Hart. He worked at Howmet Corporation for thirty-five years, and was a partner in The Realty Connection until illness forced him to retire.
Tom was a kind and gentle man. He loved and was loved by anyone who met him. He was a life-long and devout Catholic, serving the parish of St. Gregory, Hart, in many ways through the years. He had also made a Cursillo.
Tom loved the outdoors, and spent many happy hours hunting and fishing, and sitting in the sun. He was always happiest when accompanied by family. The Detroit Lions and Tigers have lost their most loyal fan.
Tom's greatest treasure was his family. Every moment spent with his children and grandchildren was treasured in his heart. He will be the heart of many wonderful family stories.
Tom is survived by: his wife, Linda, son, Kevin (Kimberly) Foster of Gaylord; daughter, Laura (Chris) Crosby of Hart; 6 grandchildren, Matthew (Carolyn) Foster, Elizabeth (Brandon Shirley) Foster, Hannah Foster, Ashley (Troy Summers) Crosby, Raymond Crosby, and Ryan Crosby; 3 sisters, MaryKay (Harley) Cargill, Nancy (Robert) Grady and Sue (Jim) Lamie; 2 brothers, John (Beth) Foster and Stewart Foster. Also his Mitteer brothers and sisters, Susan (John) Flaherty, Paula Bates, Richard, Bruce (Elsie) and Jack (Deb) Mitteer. He was also loved by many nieces and nephews, and special friends Tom and Pat Schaner, and their family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The Mass of the Resurrection for Tom will be offered at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 7, 2018 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, in Hart, with Father Thomas Bolster presiding. Visitation will be held Friday from 5-8 PM at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 AM until time of Mass. Interment will be in Hart Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society Road to Recovery Program or the Crystal Valley Care Fund.
