Thomas Allen Gilbert, 70, of Whitehall, formerly of Walkerville, died Sunday, September 23, 2018, at SKLD Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Whitehall.  He was born February 28, 1948, in Walkerville, the son of Lester and Lulu (Monroe) Gilbert.

Tom worked as a mechanic at the Corner Garage in Walkerville for several years.  In his spare time, Tom enjoyed putting together model cars and being an avid Earnhardt Racing fan.

Tom is survived by: his children, Thomas W. (Merrlene) Gilbert of Manistee, Courtney Gilbert of Manistee, Todd Gilbert of Ludington, Geri Ellen Suckko of Texas, and Debra Dill of Texas; 7 grandchildren including Tommy Gilbert; his siblings, Marjorie (Bob) Rudnick, Ernest (Rose) Gilbert Sr., Lucille Howe, Jim (Mackie) Gilbert, Bob (Mary) Gilbert, Alice (Walt) Garboske, Maxine Youngs, Buck (Gloria) Gilbert, Kathy Gilbert and Helen (Jim) Garvey; numerous nieces and nephews; and his former spouse, Sue Gilbert.

Tom was preceded in death by: his parents; his brother, Gerald Gilbert; his sister-in-law, Patsy Winchel Gilbert; and 2 brothers-in-law, Doug Tressel and Junior Youngs.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM, Friday, October 12, 2018, at Elbridge Township Cemetery.
