Obituary

Thomas Lee Thomazin, 71, of Montague, died Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence in Muskegon.  He was born September 23, 1950, in Joplin, Missouri, the son of Duane Arnold and Idell (Metscher) Thomazin.

Tom was raised in Seneca, MO surrounded by his loving parents, brothers and sister, and many, many cousins.

Tom was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and mechanic.   He attended the American Mechanics Institute in Florida and the Harley-Davidson Mechanic School in Arizona.   Tom was a mechanic and service manager for several motorcycle shops in Texas for over 20 years.  He then went to work for Amoco Chemical Corp in Texas for 10 years until moving to Montague in 1999 where he worked for a few years at Howmet and Herman Miller. Lastly he was employed at Muskegon Castings for 10 years until his retirement in 2010.

Tom was a founding member of the Voyagers Motorcycle Club in Santa Fe, Texas, and a lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association.  In addition to riding motorcycles, Tom loved to read about them as well.  He also enjoyed eating chocolate and drinking Coca-Cola.

On October 19, 1984, in Texas City, Texas, Tom married Arlene Grow, who survives him.  He is also survived by: his daughter, Kara Thomazin, Grand Rapids, MI; his sister, Patricia (Dan) Hoff, McKinney, TX; 2 brothers, Larry (June) Thomazin, Walnut Grove, MO, and John (Ruth Ann) Thomazin, Golden, MO; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, White Lake Chapel, 413 S. Mears Avenue, Whitehall.  Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Montague.  Visitation will be held Tuesday from 11:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home.  Harley Davidson attire is welcomed as a tribute for the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence through Harbor Hospice or to the American Stroke Association.
