Obituary

Mr. Thomas Arthur Pische, age 82, of Mears, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013. He was born February 13, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, to Jack and Regina (DeVoist) Pische. Mr. Pische served his country in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict. Thomas married Helen Sullivan on February 25, 1955, in Angola, Indiana. He graduated from Western Michigan University with his BA in education and was a teacher in the Avondale Public Schools until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Pische was a mentor and friend to many young people through his involvement in the Kensington and Lake St. Clair Shores Youth Sailing Club, Indian Guides, and Boy Scouts, as well as a coach of his sons' athletic teams and as a volunteer at Thomas Read Elementary School. He enjoyed model railroading and was a member of the Little Point Sable Lighthouse Keepers, the Woodworkers Guild, and the Pentwater Artisan Center.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Helen Pische; two sons, John (Julie) Pische of Brunswick, Ohio, and Robert (Dawn) Pische of Grand Rapids; five grandchildren, John Pische, Holli (Aaron)Steimel, Michael Pische, Joshua Pische, and Laura Pische; and several cousins.

The Memorial Service for Mr. Pische will be Monday, July 22, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at King Funeral Home in Hart with Pastor Rebecca Wieringa officiating. Interment will be in Mears Cemetery. The family requests that any memorials be directed to Oceana County Community Foundation Scholarship Fund, PO Box 367, Shelby, MI 49455.
