Mr. Tom Weber, 79, of Pentwater, Mich., unexpectedly passed away Oct. 12, 2014. Tom was born in Detroit, Jan. 13, 1935, to Margaret (Sumner) and Dr. Karl W. Weber. He was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Weber. Tom was a graduate of Duke University and a life-long Blue Devils fan. He served in the US Coast Guard in Oregon, as a search and rescue officer for three years. On Nov. 9, 1957, he married Joyce Carol Zemper and began raising a family in Oregon and later, Grosse Ile, Mich.
Tom had a successful career in automotive advertising and marketing, and had many other entrepreneurial adventures. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed sailing, fishing, hunting, woodworking and barbecuing. Following retirement, he and Joyce moved to Pentwater where they have made their home for 15 years.
Tom is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce of Pentwater; two sons, Tom (Teresa) of Okemos, Mich. and Ted (Eri) of Santa Clara, Calif.; two daughters, Karla (Dimitri) Frentzos of Northville, Mich. and Kris Shallman of Holt, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Chris, Diana (Mike), Alex (Ayana), Emily, Tom, Peter, Julie and Jennifer; brother and sister-in-laws, Barbara Weber, Ed Forster, Julie (Bob) Van Schoyck and Ted (Anne) Zemper; and many dear nieces and nephews.
The Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Weber will be offered Friday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Pentwater where Tom was an active parishioner. Visitation before the mass at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to COVE, 906 E. Ludington Ave., Ludington, MI 49431, or the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mt. Elliot, Detroit, MI 48207. Interment will be at St. Anne's Chapel, Grosse Ile, Mich., at a later date.
