Thomas John Weidner, 79, of Kingsley, died Friday, December 19, 2025, at home with his family by his side. He was born May 3, 1946, in Kinglsey, the son of Edward and Beatrice (Ockert) Weidner.
Tom began working at the State Hospital in Traverse City in 1970. He held many positions, mostly working as a cook and doing the laundry. He was a hard worker, retiring after 30 years. He was a member of St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Church in Kingsley. He had been a volunteer firefighter since he was a teenager and was on the Paradise Township Volunteer Fire Department.
On June 7, 1969, in Cadillac, Tom married Mary Deimel who survives him. He is also survived by: sons, Jeff (Lorie Ott) Weidner of Traverse City and Douglas Weidner of Kingsley; grandchildren, Ann (Jeremy) Hatt, Kimberly (Randy) Cheshire, Matthew (Montanna) Weidner, Xiola Weidner, Megan Weidner, Faith Weidner, and Zachary (Weidner) Allen; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dick (Alice) Weidner and Barbara (Erv) Dowd; and many loved ones he accepted as family.
Tom was preceded in death by: his parents; sister Rosetta (Mick) McPherson; infant son, Robert Weidner; unborn daughter, Christine Weidner; and granddaughter, Ashley Weidner.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 3, 2026, at St. Mary of Hannah Catholic Church, 2912 W. M-113, Kingsley, Michigan 49649 with the Rev. Greg McCallum celebrant. Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM, Friday, January 2, 2026, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, 200 N. Brownson Avenue, Kingsley, Michigan 49649, where the Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 PM. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 AM until time of Mass at the church on Saturday.
