Obituary

Timothy "Tim" Patrick Murphy, 79, of Frankfort, died Friday, September 11, 2020, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born April 7, 1941, in Saginaw, the son of Myles and Vivian (Strause) Murphy.

Tim worked as a firefighter for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, retiring after more than 30 years. He was a talented stained glass artist. In his spare time, he loved to visit the Copemish Flea Market where he enjoyed hunting for treasures and visiting with folks, always with coffee in hand.

Tim is survived by: his son, Myles Murphy of Interlochen; daughter, Katrina Murphy of Arkansas; siblings, Terry (Judy) Murphy of Grawn, Dianne Kilbourne of Frankenmuth, and Maureen (Roger) Ruiz of Interlochen; former spouse, Retha Legg Murphy of Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tim was preceded in death by: his parents; infant grandson, William Murphy; siblings, Fred Murphy and Patti Murphy; and stepmother, Norene Brakel Murphy.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 17, 2020, at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service in Frankfort. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM at the Inland Township Cemetery in Interlochen.

In lieu of flowers, plant a tree or flower in memory of Tim.
