Tyler Scott Swihart, 15, of Montague, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018. Ty was born on August 21, 2002, to Scott and Lisa Swihart.

Ty attended Montague High School. In his 15 short years, he touched so many lives with his wit, charm, and always funny personality. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and was known to be a hard worker. Ty was truly a gift to his family and a devoted, protective brother. Ty was known as a pretty humble kid, except maybe on the b-ball court. Even then, he was respected and admired by many. Ty's death means that other lives may be saved or healed due to the selfless act of him registering as an organ donor. Ty was extremely active in sports and especially loved basketball. He was a smart, outgoing, caring, compassionate young man. No words can express how deeply Ty will be missed.

Ty is survived by: his parents; brothers, Seth and Austin; grandparents, Kay and Jerry Glover, Duane and Kathy Swihart, Terry and Deb Rademaker; great-grandparents, Bonnie Genson, Anita Rademaker, Ethelyn Swihart; aunts, Rachel (Steve) Garcia, Karyn Savage, Adrienne Savage, Christina (Todd) Koperski; uncles, Kevin Porrett and Rob (Michelle) Porrett;; the love of his young life, Tori Russell; many great aunts and uncles; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by: his grandmothers, Kathy Newell and Shelly Genson; and great-grandfathers, Wayne Swihart, Bill Rademaker and Richard Genson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Whitehall Evangelical Covenant Church, 900 Warner Street, Whitehall, Michigan, with Pastor Craig Smith officiating.  Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Montague. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ty's family.
