Mrs. Valeria Lucille Alvesteffer, age 89, of Hart, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014. She was born July 23, 1925, in Hart to Clemens and Margaret (Kokx) Hammerle. She graduated from Hart High School with the Class of 1943. On February 11, 1950, Valeria married Robert Alvesteffer at St. Joseph Catholic Church; they were married for fifty-five years before his passing on May 19, 2005. Valeria was a homemaker and a seamstress who previously worked for Sta-Pocket in Hart. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, she was the church organist for forty years and an active Altar Society member. Valeria was active on the farm; the ultimate farm woman. She absolutely loved children, who she felt kept her young. Valeria was a wonderful cook and baker; she was known for her great cookies. She also canned many fruit and vegetables and loved flower gardening.

Valeria is survived by seven daughters, Sheila (Jim) Carlson of Hart, Audrey (Fred) Wieber of Otsego, Arlene (Delos) Thaler of Hart, Vicki (Denis) Koch of Hart, Sonya (Jim) Beggs of Hart, Lois (Larry) Simmons of Hart, and Mary Lou (Gary) Phillips of Hart; two sons, Daryl (Beth) Alvesteffer of Hart, and Philip Alvesteffer of Mishawaka, IN; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and two brothers, Marinus Hammerle of Ludington, and Marcellinus "Buddy" Hammerle of Omaha, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Alvesteffer; four sisters, Loretta Haase, Germaine DeRuiter, Anastacia Malburg, and Regina Hammerle; and two brothers, Fredrick and Orville Hammerle.

The Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Alvesteffer will be offered Saturday, November 8, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Weare with Father Bart Okagbueo presiding. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at King Funeral Home where the Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. The family requests that any memorials be directed to one of Valeria's favorite charities, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas PL, P.O.
