Obituary

Mrs. Valeria M. Wilder, age 84, died Friday, June 29, 2007. She was born on July 6, 1922 in Kalamazoo to John and Anastasia (Gruszcyk) Owsiany. Mrs. Wilder received her formal education in 1943 from Western Michigan University and Oklahoma State University. She was an Extension Agent and Home Economist in Paw Paw, MI. Following her marriage to Loyd Wilder on September 14, 1968 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Weare, they dairy farmed together and produced some of the highest butter fat content from their farm in Pentwater. Valeria was a former member of St. Vincent Catholic Church and a past president of the Altar Society. She was active in 4-H and had won many awards for her cooking and canning, especially her pies and desserts. Being an excellent seamstress, she did upholstery work for Vermuelens Furniture in Kalamazoo. She was also instrumental in planning family reunions. Valeria is survived by 3 children, Gerry (Joyce) Wilder of Muskegon, Martin Wilder of Wyoming State and Theresa Wilder of California; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; daughter in law, Annie Owsiany of Mattawan, MI; brother in law, Justin Wilder of Angola, IN; 2 sisters in law, Anna Belle Crummel of Erie, MI and Marcella Wilder of Muskegon. Several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Loyd Wilder of August 26, 2003 and son, Thomas John Owsiany on October 31, 2001; also 3 sisters and 5 brothers. The Funeral Service for Valeria will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. from the Tate-King Funeral Home with Fr. Anton Tran officiating. Interment in North Weare Cemetery. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the Tate-King Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer's or Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
