Obituary

Mr. Vincent Thomas Kacynski, age 93, of Hart, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Mercy Health Partners Lakeshore Campus in Shelby.  He was born September 22, 1923, in Weare Township to Walter and Antusi (Walanus) Kacynski.  He was a dairy and asparagus farmer all of his life. On February 6, 1947 he married the former Betty Jean Ames in Ludington and she preceded him in death. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Vincent was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He continued to hunt deer until he was only able to use binoculars, long after he gave up his firearm. Fishing was a passion of his also, having loved to fry fresh trout and wild mushrooms, that he enjoyed picking. Vincent loved to garden and was known for his watermelons.  He enjoyed playing cards, using his quick wit to tell stories and jokes. Farming was in Vincent's life, still cutting hay and farming into his eighties. He will be remembered as a kind hearted man and very generous, almost to a fault.

Vincent is survived by three daughters: Kathryn (Mary Lannoye) Kacynski of Williamston, MI, Kristine Kacynski of Williamston, MI and Karen Kacynski of Hart and two sons: Gerald (Mary Anne) Kacynski of Pentwater and Thomas (Angela) Kacynski of Bridgman, MI;  he also has one grandson, Walter (Melanie) Kacynski of Lansing, MI; one step grandson, Ryan Gaul of Lawton, MI;  three great grandchildren, Owen Kacynski, Allison Kacynski, Lilli Kacynski; four step grandchildren, Harley Gaul, Chase Gaul, MacKenzie Gaul, Jacob Gaul. Several nieces, nephews and his cat Dottie.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty Jean and his grandson, Michael Kacynski, step grandson, Eric Gaul; and nine siblings.

The Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Kacynski will be offered Friday, May 5, 2017, at 11:00 am from St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Phillip Sliwinski presiding. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from one hour prior to the service at the church.
