Violet LaFerne Frost, 87, of Hart, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 23, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 1, 1930, in Mears, the daughter of Franklin and Mattie (Reames) Fenton.
Violet graduated from Hart High School in 1948. Later, Violet was an office clerk at Hart High School, a deputy clerk for the Oceana County Clerk, a medical transcriptionist at Oceana Hospital, the office manager/billing clerk for V. Dale Barker, MD, and a medical transcriptionist/medical record at Hart Family Medical Center until retiring in 2017. In her spare time, Violet enjoyed dancing with her husband and collecting antiques, especially Fenton Glass.
Violet is survived by: 2 sons, Matt (Imelda) Frost of Allen, Texas, and Brion Frost of Grand Rapids; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer (Steven) Philbeck, Augie May (Patrick) Pilapil and Julie (Rico) Bustamante; 3 great-grandchildren, Kimberly May Tyner, TrixieMay Ann Pilapil and Brantley Dean Philbeck; her sister, Jeannette Lipps of Hart; and several nieces and nephews.
On January 22, 1949, in Shelby, Violet married Albert "Zeke" Frost who preceded her in death on June 24, 2011. She was also preceded in death by: her son, William Joseph Frost on May 9, 1959; and her brothers, Clifton Fenton and Norman Fenton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 29, 2017, at Mears United Methodist Church, with Pastor Anne Riegler and Pastor Ken Vanderlaan officiating. Interment will be in the Hart Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, King-Hart Chapel, 2370 N. 72 nd Ave., Hart.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mears United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Harbor Hospice.
